Height of a Building

You stand at a distance from a tall, downtown building and your friend appears to be as tall as the building You and your friend want to measure the height of the building but they don’t have the means of doing so. What should you do?

1. The friend stands in direct line between the building and you, so by closing one eye, you can see that the top of her head is at the same level.
2. The height of the friend is know (yF);
3. The distance from your eye and your friend is known (xF)
4. The distance from your eye and your friend is also known (xB)
5. Using the yF and xF we can find the hypotenuse.

6. Using the hypotenuse we can determine the angle.

7. Using this information, how would we determine the height of the building?
